Loving Memory of Janel Renee Martin Kay We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our beloved mother, Janel Kay, on December 31, 2023. She died peacefully in her sleep, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, compassion, and friendship. Janel was born on May 25, 1963 in Wichita, Kansas to Craig and Janet Martin. After her family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, they moved to Provo, Utah, then later to Vernal. She graduated from Uintah High School where she made many lifelong friends. She spent some time at LDS Business College, but soon returned to Vernal where she married John T. Kay. Together they had five children but later divorced. Janel loved kids and spent years providing daycare for others, and eventually began working for the Uintah School District in the Special Ed department where she continued to nurture and teach the children whom she adored. Janel was dedicated to serving in her community and enjoyed many years involved with 4-H. She loved to decorate for the fair, helping visions come to life with her many creative talents. As a party planner extraordinaire, Janel had a knack for creating magical moments and unforgettable celebrations. Whether it was girls camp, a family reunion, or a simple family get together, her creativity and attention to detail were unmatched, making every event she organized a memorable experience. Janel's true joy in life came from her relationships with her family and many friends. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, creating lasting memories and traditions. Her grandchildren adore her and always looked forward to whatever adventures or crafts she had planned. As a faithful member of the church, she served in many capacities and was a dedicated minister to all. She had an extraordinary capacity for empathy and was always there to lend a hand, serving with no thought for anything in return. Her genuine kindness and warm-hearted nature touched the lives of countless individuals. Her Christlike love shined through her selflessness, generosity, and kindness; touching the hearts of all who knew her. Janel is proceeded in death by her mother Janet, and her father Craig Martin, and will be deeply missed by her other mother, Marj Martin, her siblings Kevin (Robyn) Martin, Janae Wilken, Michelle (Shawn) Barney, Colette (Dani) Raitani, Annette (Busch) Jones, and Brenda (Corey) Enloe, and her children Shaylah (Brandon) Dansie, Kyndi (Edgar) Morales, Brinlee (Jeremy) Larsen, Jace (Gloria), Trevor, and her 10 cherished grandchildren Graci, Cielo, Xander, Zaeli, and Enzo Morales, and Breah, Tayven, Austin, Edyn and Layni Dansie. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 6, 2023 at 12Noon at the Maeser 1st Ward LDS Chapel (850 West 100 North). A viewing for family and friends will be held Friday evening from 6-8PM at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home and Saturday 10:45-11:45AM at the Church.
