Janet Anderson (Lindsay) Suddreth

January 31, 1932 — December 31, 2023

Vernal, UT & Mtn. Home, UT

Our beloved mother, Janet Anderson Lindsay Suddreth, age 91, passed away at her home in the Beehive House in Vernal, Utah on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2023. Janet was born on January 31, 1932 in Fort Duchesne, Utah and grew up on a homestead in Mountain Home. She graduated from Altamont High where she was a baton twirler. She met Eugene Suddreth while working in Salt Lake City. They were married in Elko, Nevada in 1953 and built a life rooted in love and commitment to family. Janet was a devoted wife and homemaker, teaching her children life skills ranging from sewing to resilience. Janet lived in several Utah communities, as Eugene's employment working on the Central Utah Project took them around Emery County and the Uintah Basin. She was known as a great cook and put her skills to use in school kitchens in Duchesne and Vernal. Her grandchildren remember her pies and other goodies at holidays. Janet was a selfless caregiver, tending grandchildren, great grandchildren and aging members of her family. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was an active member of her local Relief Societies as long as she was able. Upon Eugene's death in 1991, she moved from Mountain Home to Vernal, Utah where she served in the LDS Temple for several years. Janet's greatest joy was in her children and grandchildren and was often heard saying, "I have the best children." Throughout her life she pursued many handicrafts including crocheting and quilting. Her prize-winning quilts were given as gifts to her family and now adorn beds in several states. Janet was preceded in death by her husband Eugene, her parents George and Thelma Lindsay and seven brothers and sisters, and one grandson Austin Merkley. She is survived by her four children, Sherry Lue (Clinton) Peatross, John Eugene Suddreth, Michael Lindsay (Diana) Suddreth and Tamara Jean Suddreth (Bo Ellis). She always enjoyed the company of her 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She never stopped wanting to hold the next baby. Funeral services for Janet will be held January 13, 2024 at 12:00 pm at the Moon Lake LDS Ward Chapel (20800 West 3800 North, Talmage, Utah. Take highway 87 North to Duchesne to mile marker 16). Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:45am - 11:45am prior to the services at the church. Janet will be interred next to her beloved husband in the Boneta-Mountain Home Cemetery following the funeral. Services under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. We will miss her smile and the twinkle in her eye while we express gratitude to those at the Beehive House who cared for her in her final years.
