Janice Rae Gowen of Vernal, joined her husband and children in heaven on July 20, 2024. Jan was born in Roosevelt, Utah on March 27, 1948 to Shirl Williams and Mavis Jennings Williams. She was the oldest of 3 but had an extra "brother" growing up, her cousin Blaine Watson. Blaine and Jan were a force to be reckoned with and caused lots of mischief for their grandparents. She married her true love H. Dale Gowen on Dec. 31, 1970 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They moved back to The Basin, making Vernal their forever home where they raised their four children. Jah worked numerous jobs but her final career where she retired was Utah State University, where she made many friends. Jans children came first before her needs right up to the time of her passing, but her biggest enjoyment was her grandchildren. She was always there to cheer them on, spoil them, and making each one feel special. Jan loved to travel and trying new foods. We have special memories of our trips to Disneyland, Hawaii, and Mexico. Jan was kind, loving, and helpful to everyone. She never met a stranger. She was her childrens best friend, so it goes without saying the was devastated when she lost her husband, son and daughter. We know that reunion was the most beautiful of all. Jan is preceded in her death by her husband Dale Gowen; daughter, Michele Fredrick; son Russell Gowen, parents, and cousin Blaine Watson. She is survived by her son, Richard (Alisha) Gowen and daughter Nikki (Skyler) Ruud, all of Vernal; 13 grandkids: Tevin (Kaela), Tyler (Branson), Kalee, Kutter, Atiya, Jordan, Keira, Heston, Adilyn, Brinlei, Gerrik, and Taelor; 1 great grandson Lane and another one coming soon, and son-in-law Donnie Fredrick. Mom thank you for always loving us no matter what. Love you to the moon and back! We want to thank Christy Thacker (PA) for always being on her side and Canyon Home Health for treating her with respect and for all their help.
