Jerry Johnson

March 11, 1946 — May 28, 2017

Jerry Johnson passed away May 28, 2017 after a 5 year battle of a rare neurological disorder. He was surrounded by family and friends as he was peacefully called to heaven. Jerry was a dearly loved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and friend. Jerry was born in Union Hill, Arkansas to Melvin Johnson and Ruth White Johnson on March 11, 1946. Jerry grew up in Thida, AR. In 1964 he joined the Navy and served in the Vietnam War. He served his country for 4 years in the Tonkin Gulf. He married Cathy Harper on July 7, 1987 in Kewanee, Ill. They moved to Vernal in 1990. They had two sons, Nathan and John (Dub). Jerry also has two other children from a previous marriage, Keith Johnson and Stephanie Chacon. Jerry was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time outdoors camping and 4 wheeler riding. He had a passion for gun trading and meeting new people. But above all else his true passion was spending time with his family. He is survived by wife Cathy Johnson, children: Keith (Evelyn)-TX, Nathan-Vernal, John (Dub) (Jordan Murray)-Vernal, Stephanie Chacon-TX. Mother: Ruth Johnson-AR, Sibllings: Gennie Bumpous-AR, Marilyn Guines-AR, John D Johnson-AR. Grandchildren: Ky Johnson, Colter Johnson, Colby Johnson, Ryker Cottam, Journee Johnson, Damen Chacon. Great Grandchild: Ty Medran. Proceeded in death by: Father Melvin Johnson, Brother Charles Johnson, Son Kenith Johnson.The family would like to Thank Good Shepard for the wonderful care given to Dad. Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 1PM at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home (410 North 800 West). Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 11.
