Joel Dustin passed away on August 15, 2013 surrounded by his family at the age of 88. Joel was born in Driggs, Idaho on October 23, 1924 to Mafilda Anderson and Norma Dustin.
Joel served in the Army during WWII. After the Army, Joel enjoyed being a cowboy and working in the copper mine. In 1960 he met and married Elizabeth (Betty) Jane Smith. He adopted four children: Sam, Anne, Warren and Charles. In 1961 they had a boy named Storm.
Joel and Betty ran the Daniel Trading Company in Daniel, Wyoming for many years. They were best known for their quality of the meat they sold around the world. They served two full time missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The first being in Canada and the second one was in the Philippines. In 1998 they moved to Vernal, Utah so they could work in the Vernal LDS Temple.
Joel is survived by his children: Sam (Lynda) Stilson (Cedaredge, CO), Ann Curtis (Twin Falls, ID), Warren Stilson (Lancaster, SC), Charles (Kathy) Stilson (Riverton, WY) and Storm Dustin (Rawlins, WY); numerous Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, and one brother Ed Dustin, and sister LaDessa Smith.
He is preceded in death by his dear wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Jane Smith, his parents, one brother, and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 23, 2013 at 2PM at the Ashley 2nd Ward Chapel (2375 North 1500 West). A viewing will be held Friday 12:45~1:45PM at the church. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park next to his sweetheart with Military honors provided by the American Legion and the Utah National Guard.
