John Thomas Kay returned home to his Father in Heaven, December 24, 2012. He was born February 23, 1963 to Lawrence and Joy Kay.
John was a graduate of Uintah High School and later graduated from Mesa State College. John started working at Uintah Engineering at the age of 14. He was Naples City Fire Chief for 11 years and a paramedic for several years as well. John owned and operated Western Exposure, JK Land surveying, and MK Trucking.
John married Marsha Bowthorpe on February 12, 2005. They were later sealed in the Vernal LDS Temple.
John loved fishing, hunting and spending time on the mountain. But most of all John loved his family and his grandchildren.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held many calling. John loved to serve others.
John is survived by his wife Marsha Bowthorpe Kay; Parents: Lawrence and Joy Kay; Brothers: Robert (Theresa) Kay (Vernal); Paul (Leslie) Kay (Rochester, IL); Children: Shaylah (Brandon) Dansie, (Stateborough, GA); Kyndi (Edgar) Morales, (Vernal); Brinlee, Trevor, Jace, (all of Vernal); Step-children: Amy (Jamie) Thacker, (Vernal); Stephanie (Jed) Angus, (Vernal); Caradie (Kevin) Ash, (Vernal); and 18 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 11AM at the Glines 3rd Ward Chapel (475 West 100 South, Vernal). A viewing was held Friday evening from 6~8PM at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home and 9:45~10:45AM prior to the services at the chapel.
