Joseph (Joe) Lloyd Evans, 81, passed away in his home with his wife, Teddie Reidhead Evans, by his side on December 23, 2021. He was born in Salt Lake City on June 7, 1940, to Bud Davis and Virginia Lloyd Evans. Joe was larger than life, to his family. He was their go-to man and will be missed dearly. He is survived by his wife, Teddie Evans of Mesquite, Nevada. Joe and Teddie enjoyed a blended family with six children: Steve Evans (Lisa), Dianna Devine (Chris), Bryan Evans, Cory Swain (Mandi), Clay Swain (Stacy) and Stephanie Swain Jacobs (Jake). Joe and Teddie have 10 grandchildren: MaKall Reynolds, Ashley Haslem (Brett), Michael Evans (Jaisha), Erin Jones (Brian), Mathew Devine, Joseph Evans (Tiffany), Trevor Evans, Jade Quitiquit (Alex), Jeremy Swain (Shirley), Cameron Swain, Dillon Swain (Kori), Aly Feely, Blake Feely, Samantha Swain, and James Swain. They have 8 great grandchildren: Presley Haslem, Kyler Haslem, Mason Haslem, Lucas Evans, Arianne Evans, Bennett Evans, Naomi Swain, and Elena Swain. Spanish Family, Javier, Lucia and Elena Luzano. Joe has a brother Michael Refell Evans (Bonnie), and a sister, Patricia Evans Frandsen (Tracy). Joe was preceded in death by his father and mother, Bud Davis and Virginia Evans, his brother, David John Evans, and one grandson, Wesley Swain Cowan. Joe spent most of his youth in Spanish Fork, Utah, although he did live one year at the Topaz Relocation Camp, where his father was teaching school during World War II. He grew to love and respect the Japanese people and their culture. He graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1958, where he was a member of the football team, the Thespian Club, the band, and played in a dance band. He attended Snow college and Brigham Young University. On January 2, 1960, he married Kaye Otten and they had three children: Steven Lloyd, Dianna Lynn, and Bryan Davis. They later divorced and Joe married Teddie Reidhead Swain on July 2, 1983 and she had 3 children Cory, Clay and Stephanie. Together they raised a beautiful daughter, Stephanie, and helped raise a lovely grand-daughter Jadrianne. Joe worked for JC Penny Company as a sales and fashion manager in Utah and Idaho and then for Sears and Roebuck as the appliance manager. He later worked as a sales manager for Miller Trailer company in Spanish Fork. After his marriage to Teddie Reidhead Swain, they purchased the radio station KNEU, and later, The Fox 98.5 and B 92.5 FM. During his 35-year broadcast career, he grew to love the people of the Basin. Joe was an active member of the Vernal Rotary Club where he served as president. He was actively involved in many local and international service activities. Joe was instrumental in helping to make the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo successful. Four years ago, both Joe and Teddie were honored by the Chamber of Commerce with a life-time achievement award. Visitation will be Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Rockpoint Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2575 North 1500 West, Vernal, Utah. Prior to the funeral service, visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Rockpoint Cemetery, 2250 West 2250 North, Vernal, Utah. In leu of flowers donations can be made at either the Vernal or Roosevelt Food Pantry. Luncheon will be provided by the Ashley 2nd Ward Relief Society Sisters Immediately following Internment. Everyone Is welcome and encouraged to come share memories of Joe's life with family and friends.
