Joshua Shane Wood

Joshua Shane Wood, age 36, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 27th, 2019 at his home in Vernal, Utah. Joshua was born in Orem, Utah on March 5, 1983 to Johnny Shane and Jeanne Wood. He was the oldest of ten children. He earned his Eagle Scout award at the age of 14. He graduated from American School in 2001. He worked as a machinist at Stewart Machine, Slaugh Fishing, and Dynasty Energy throughout his 18-year career. He served in the Utah Army National Guard as an avionics technician. He was deployed to Kuwait and Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2008 and 2009. He was very devoted to his country and was proud to have been able to serve in the military. On October 6, 2012 he married Jamie Brewer. They later divorced. They had two children, Zakery Drake and Kaylex Nevaeh. Josh was a devoted father and everything he did, he did for his children. He enjoyed painting, computer design, building models, and spending time with his family. He loved cars and loved restoring and working on cars. He enjoyed farming and was recently helping to build his family farm. Josh is survived by his children, Zakery and Kaylex; his parents; brothers Jonathan (Emily) Wood, Aaron (Allyson) Wood, Wesley (Courtney) Wood, Braden Wood, Wyatt Wood; sisters Caitlin (KC) Hunting, Rebecca (Patrick) Ditty, Rachael (Taylor) Robinson, Alison (Preston) Giese; and grandmother Jeanne Gross. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Arlo and Patricia Wood, and Earl Gross. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Glines 9th Ward Chapel (1270 West 1500 South). A viewing for friends and family will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home and Wednesday 9:45-10:45 AM at the church. Interment will be in the Rockpoint Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 11.
