Joyce (Oldroyd) Johnson

Joyce Oldroyd Johnson, age 71, of Vernal, Utah, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024 in Roosevelt, Utah. Joyce was born in Tuba City, Arizona on March 14, 1953, to Larry and Bonnie Oldroyd. Joyce was raised in Tuba City, Arizona; Shiprock, New Mexico; Richfield, Utah; and Vernal, Utah. While living in Vernal, Utah, she met and married the love of her life, Dell Johnson. During their 52 years of marriage, they had three children: Nikki, Neyca, and Kurt. She was blessed with 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and is expecting two more very soon. Joyce worked for Uintah School District for 33 years. While working for the district she met and made many friends. Joyce loved going to watch her grandchildren show horses and barrel race. She especially loved watching her great-granddaughter, Bexlee doing barrels and poles. She loved spending time with her family at their cabin. She was a person who loved to joke around. She had a great sense of humor. When the family got together, she loved having a heated friendly game of cards. You would find her cussing everyone for taking her cards. She loved to garden and flowers. She also loved her hummingbirds. She always kept her feeders full. Joyce is survived by her husband Dell Johnson, daughter Nikki (Byron) Gibson of Burley, Idaho; Neyca Ireland of Vernal, Utah; Grandkids Tiffany (Shad) Boren of Lapoint, Utah, Dillen (Crystal) Haworth of Ogden, Utah, Kaden Adams of Vernal, Utah, Kelsee (Riley) Smith of Vernal, Utah, and Paisley Blackburn of Vernal, Utah. She is also survived by great grandkids Bexlee Boren, Annalisa Haworth, and Jaxton Smith. Brothers Dan (Lacee) Oldroyd of St. George, Utah; Steve (Lori) Oldroyd of Vernal, Utah; and sister Jeannie (John) Offutt of Richfield, Utah. She is proceeded in death by her son; Kurt Johnson, parents; Larry and Bonnie Oldroyd, in-laws; Grant and Floy Johnson, and grandparents. Celebration of Life for Joyce will be held Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 6:00pm-9:00pm at the Uintah Stake Center Gymnasium (4080 South 2500 East). Please come dressed casually, enjoy refreshments, and share your favorite memories of Joyce with her family. Services under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
