It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Joyce, who departed this life on April 22, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones.

Mary Joyce LaRose Johnson was born on November 29, 1948, to Loren Fred and Mary Ilene (Elmer) LaRose. She was the fifth of six children, having 4 older brothers and a little sister. She grew up in Neola, Utah and then moved to Ogden, Utah during her Jr. High year. She graduated from Ben Lomond High on June 1, 1967, and later that evening she married the love of her life, Donald Glade Johnson. They remained in Ogden for a couple of years, bringing in their son, Darren Glade. They moved back to Vernal in 1969. They completed their family in 1971 with a daughter, Marianne.

Joyce worked for the Forest Service, H&H Bico, Showalter Ford, then Uintah County where she retired in 2010. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, camping and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Joyce is survived by her husband Don of 58 years, daughter Marianne (Branden) Bowden, grandchildren Lexy (Dustin) Smuin, Brock (Haleigh) Bowden, and Donovan (Tashia) Johnson who will cherish her memory forever. Also, her great-grandchildren Cooper, Aceyn, Rhen, and Beau Smuin, Brixleigh, Lettie, and Halzie Bowden, and Skyler Johnson. Brother Bob (Sandi) LaRose, brother-in-law Lloyd Johnson and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ilene LaRose, in-laws Jiggs and Clifta Johnson, three brothers, Loren (Shana) LaRose, Larry LaRose and Garry LaRose, her sister Karen Davis, her grandson Denim Gage Johnson, nephew Freddie LaRose and niece Kerrie Neria and recently her son Darren Glade Johnson.

Family would like to thank Canyon Home Health and Hospice for their loving care.

Celebration of life for Joyce Johnson will be held Friday, May 8, 2026 at 11:00am at Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. Visitation from 10:00 ~ 11:00am prior to the service.
