Kathleen (Bowles) Merkley

Kathleen Bowles Merkley passed away peacefully at her home on Monday July 8, 2024 at the age of 79. Kathy was born on October 25, 1944 to Elthear Marie & Donald Roy Bowles in Spanish Fork, Utah. She married Rell Terry Merkley for time and all eternity on July 5, 1962 in the Manti Utah Temple. Kathy loved and enjoyed working in the temple clothing room for many years in the Vernal Utah Temple. In her lifetime, she worked as a secretary, a server, and a bank teller where she met lifelong friends. Those that truly knew Kathy knew her sense of humor. She loved a good prank and would have people laughing and grinning from ear to ear everywhere she went. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, playing cards, going to the mountain, and teaching grandkids & great grandkids the joys and wonders of the outdoors. She took great pride in and loved having a clean home. Above all, Kathy loved her family very much. She was the ultimate caregiver of her husband Rell for many years. She tried her best to love, care & serve her family and friends. She will be greatly missed...until then, we love you! We find comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her husband Rell, who she missed every single day. Kathy is survived by her seven children and their spouses: Bobbi (Vance) Beckstead, Cindy (Vance) Eaton, Shayne (Debbie) Merkley, Jimmy (Amy) Merkley, Wendy (Shane) Kavanaugh, Tracy (Roland) Searle, Jason (Katie) Merkley, and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Patsy Nelson, Wayne Bowles, and LaDell Mott. She is preceded in death by her husband Rell Merkley, her parents, her granddaughter Amanda Brooke Eaton and great granddaughter Arya Jean Nielsen. Funeral services for Kathy will be held Friday, July 12, 2024 at 2:00pm with a visitation from 12:45pm ~ 1:45pm, all at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Rockpoint Cemetery next to her beloved husband Rell. Services under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
