Kenneth "Ken" Williams Hatch, age77, passed away December 2, 2021 in American Fork, Utah. He was the fourth of eight children born to Boyd Teeples Hatch and Enid Ruth Williams. He spent his Childhood growing up in Maeser where he enjoyed swimming in the "Boys Hole", hunting and fishing with his bamboo pole. He spent summers hauling hay with the local farmers and working side by side with his father and brothers building homes. He enjoyed participating in the Boy Scout program, camping, hiking and obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. He loved the annual deer hunt with his family and his uncles. He attended school in the Uintah School District where he participated in track, band, and lettered in football and wrestling. In his shop class he developed his love of auto mechanics and excelled in welding. He graduated with the class of 1962. After his graduation he worked the summer as and oil field roustabout before enlisting in the United States Marine Corp and reported to duty on November 1, 1962 at Camp Pendleton, California. He began his active duty training in Hawaii and then served two tours in Vietnam and achieved the rank of Lance Corporal. Ken received the following commendations: Presidential Unit Commendation with 1 bronze star, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation (Gallantry cross color with palm and frame), Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation (Civil actions color, 1st class with palm and frame), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge and Cold War Medal. Within three days of his honorable discharge, he was in St. George, Utah attending Dixie College where he graduated with an associate's degree. He is also a graduate of Weber State College where he majored in Police Science. His work experience included the State Industrial School and Vernal, Utah as a Juvenile Probation Office and other activities that related to Law Enforcement. Latter he was employed in the Oil Field as a Mud Logger. He was an avid hunter, good marksman and loved the outdoors. His hobbies included gun smithing, car restoration and knife making. He enjoyed attending Mountain Man Rendezvous where he demonstrated his knife making craft. He spoke often of his admiration for his Father and Mother and was proud of his Pioneer Heritage of the Hatch, Murray, Williams, and Bascom families. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully attended whenever he could. He is survived by his siblings Douglas (Carol) Hatch, Jerry (Jean) Hatch, Kathie (Wayne) Jenkins, David Hatch and Ruth (Reid) Samuels. He is proceeded in death by Sisters, Glee Girsberger and Mary Hatch, Sister-in-Law, Kathy Hatch and Nephew, Phillip Girsberger. Funeral Services for Ken will be held Saturday December 11, 2021 at 11:00am at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Rock Point Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 11 and the Patriot Guard Rides of Utah.
