Kenneth Denver Long passed away surrounded by his loved ones on December 1, 2023, in Provo, Utah. Kenneth was born on March 15, 1954, in Vernal, Utah, to Denver Cecil and Mildred Duvall Long. Kenneth married his sweetheart, Tammy Gay Cook, on June 30, 1973. Together, they raised four beautiful children. Kenneth was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time in the mountains with his family, hunting, fishing, and camping. He also loved spending time working on his family farm, raising sheep and cattle. Kenneth had the biggest heart and was constantly helping friends and neighbors. He made friends wherever he went. Many of whom were friends for life. He treated everyone who came through his door like family and made everyone feel welcome in his home. Kenneth served over 20 years in the United States National Guard. He spent 38 years working as a mine foreman at the phosphate mine in Vernal, Utah. Kenneth was a patriot and loved his country. One of his final acts at the phosphate mine was to place the flag in a prominent rock that can still be seen from Windy Point today. Kenneth also served on the water board for many years. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Tammy Gay Cook Long; his beloved children, Gwen (Chance) Olson, Misty (Brad) Funk, Denver (Trinity) Long, and Anna (Cody) Gardiner; 23 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one on the way; a sister, Kathleen (Gary) Cartwright. He was preceded in death by his parents, Denver Cecil Long and Mildred Duvall Long, as well as a sister, Nancy Long. Funeral services for Kennethwill be held Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held Monday evening from 6-8PM and Tuesday 11:45-12:45PM all at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Vernal Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 11.
