Lamond Harrison

December 30, 1953 — December 15, 2014

Lamond Kermit Harrison, age 60, returned to our Heavenly home on December 15, 2014 after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Lamond was born December 30, 1953 in Vernal, UT to Kermit and Yvonne Roper Harrison. Lamond grew up in the Naples area and attended schools in Vernal. He graduated from Uintah High School in 1972.

Lamond met and then married the love of his life, Julie Ann Aitken in the Salt Lake Temple on June 22, 1977. They were blessed with four children.

Lamond was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, growing up in the Naples wards. He served a mission in the Western Australian Mission, returning with honor. Lamond held many different callings in his lifetime of service. He held various callings on both ward and stake levels, from high council member to bishoprics counselors to primary teacher and loved them all.

Lamond was a scout and served proudly with many boys, men, and women on many unit and district positions. One of his favorite positions was cubmaster of pack 235. He loved awarding and cheering on the scouts. He was an Eagle Scout mentor; Lamond taught woodcarving and was Chaplin at the High Uintah Scout Camp. He earned the honor of Silver Beaver and wore his pin with great pride.

Lamond, WX7L, was an active and enthusiastic member of the Borderline Amateur Radio Club. He made many new friends and enjoyed many different activities, especially teaching others about the hobby, field day, and bunny hunting. Lamond also served as emergency coordinator of the Uintah County Amateur Radio Emergency Services for many years.

Lamond loved many hobbies. He loved electronics and the challenge of building new projects. Wood carving and wood work were very rewarding for him.

Lamond held several jobs in the basin, learning his worth ethic from his Grandfather and Dad's farm. He was the manager of Day's Bakery. He enjoyed the challenge of being a locksmith and alarm agent. And finally fulfilling his dream job of being a computer tech for the Uintah School District.

Lamond was preceded in death by his grandparents: Ruth and Arthur Harrison and Bryant and Marcella Roper. Parent in laws: Larry and Wanlyn Aitken. Sister in law: Wendy Harrison. Baby brother Gordon Floyd Harrison.

Lamond is survived by his wife of 37 years, his children: Dean and Becky Harrison of Logan, UT. Amy and Andrew Thompson of Wilmington, NC, Nathan Harrison of Santa Fe, NM, and Gwen Harrison of Vernal. Grandsons; Jakob Harrison and Tyler Thompson. His parents and brothers and sisters: Holt and Tina Harrison, Linus and Trixie Harrison, Yvette Thomas, Leo and June Harrison, and Jennie Withee, all of Vernal. Brother in Law: Lynden and Lynn Aitken of Cheyenne, WY. Irma Kunz, and many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Lamond was held Saturday December 20, 2014, 11AM, at the Naples 3rd Ward Chapel (2313 South 1500 East). A viewing was held Friday evening from 6-8PM at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home and Saturday 9:30-10:45AM at the church. Interment was in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of the Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
