Lamont Darwin Williams

Lamont Darwin "Monty" Williams passed away surrounded by family on August 12, 2026. He was 62 years old. Monty was born on May 6, 1964 to Earl Kent Williams and Janet Brotherson in Brigham City, Utah.

Monty was raised in Vernal and he loved it here. He graduated from Uintah High School in 1982. Monty has worked in the oil and gas industry mainly as a heavy hauler. He learned to drive big trucks at a young age from grandpa Dar Brotherson on the farm and fell in love with it and continued though out his life. Monty was best known for driving a Twin Steer bed truck and he was really good at it. Monty was a very hard worker and rarely took a day off work. At the time of his death he was working for Howcroft Oil Field Services. His handle in the field has always been "Herd Bull".

Monty loved the outdoors and hunting. Some of his greatest memories are hunting and fishing with his dad. He was able to accompany his dad on a once in a lifetime moose hunt this past September. And it was something he loved to talk about. He loved going to Alaska fishing with his Dad and Mom. One of the highlights of his life was going on safari to Africa in 2006. He was able to tag 16 animals including Blue Wildebeest, Gemsbuck, Waterbuck, Warthogs, and a Greater Kudu.

He is survived by his parents Kent and Janet Williams; Siblings, Tom Williams; Angie (Mike) North; Sons, Eric (Kyrstin) Well, Chris (Marloree) Roth, Hadin Williams; Grandchildren; Chloe Roth, Elisabeth Wells and Katarina Wells

Services will be held Wednesday August 19, 2026 at 11am at the Jensen LDS chapel. A viewing for family and friends will be held Tuesday August 18, 2026 at Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home from 6-8pm and the Jensen LDS Chapel from 9:45-10:45am. Internment will be in the Jensen cemetery.
