Leah Meretta Woodley was born August 29, 1917 to John Wilburt Woodley and Mable Parson Woodley in Caddyville, South Dakota. Her twin brother Lee did not survive. She was the last surviving sibling, having one sister and five brothers that preceded her in death.
Leah married Alexander Cyril Kunsman on March 20, 1942 in Baker, Montana. Together they had six children: Raymond Alex Kunsman (Sue), who together blessed Leah with nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one more on the way; Ralph Edward Kunsman; Virginia Maye Borges (Glen); Fern Ann Kunsman; Wanda Lee Murray (Rod), who together blessed Leah with four grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; Joe Arnold Kunsman (Barb) adding two more grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Leah's first home was a sheep camp. After marrying Alex they worked farms in Harding County, South Dakota until 1968. Later they moved to Gillette, Wyoming following the oilfield and family. Alex worked the rigs with Ray until becoming sick, while Leah worked in cafes, laundries, and as a care taker. In 1973 the family brought them to Vernal, Utah where Alex passed away in 1973.
Leah cared for family, neighbors, and friends. During this time she met Carl Mann. They were married in Las Vegas in 1975, adding Carl's two children to the family: Don Mann (Shirley) with two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and Ellen Saleen (Phil) with two more grandchildren.
Leah is survived by her daughters, Ginger (Glenn dec.) Borgess and Wanda (Rod) Murray; sons, Joe (Barb) Kunsman, Green River, Wyoming; and Ray (dec.) (Sue) Kunsman, Baggs, Wyoming; step children, Ellen (Phil) Saleen, California; Don (Shirley) Mann, California; 19 grandchildren; 32 great grandkids and one on the way; and two great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by husband, Alexander Kunsman; spouse, Carl Mann; daughter, Fern Kunsman; infant son, Ralph Kunsman; son, Ray Kunsman; infant grandson; and son-in-law, Glenn Borgess.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. A viewing was held Friday evening from 6~8 P.M. and Saturday 12:45~1:45 P.M. at the Mortuary. Burial was in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of the Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
