Lee Edgar Nelson, 86, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2024, with his family lovingly by his side. He was born August 4, 1937, in Ferron, Utah, to Edgar C. and Vernice Mead Nelson. Lee served in the Air Force and retired after 20 years of service. He also served in Vietnam from 1963 to 1964. Lee worked at Tooele Army Depot for 34 years and retired at 80. While there, Lee received several awards and was honored to drive around the commanders in the Tooele 4th of July parades. Lee was once the longest-tenured employee at Tooele Army Depot, with over 50 years of service. In October 2014, Lee was awarded the Department of the Army's Commander's Award for Exceptional Civilian Serv for his dedication to the Army, Joint Munitions, Tooelele Army Depot, and surrounding organizations throughout the Depot. In 1982, Lee married Karen A. (Brookins-Clegg)and became a dad to Richard, Jeff, Julie, and Jenny. Lee and Karen were married for 41 years. Lee leaves behind his wife, Karen Ann. Four children: Richard S. (Brandy) Clegg; Jeff R. (Johnnie) Clegg; Julie D. (Jason) Maintzer; Jenny L.(Chris) Ramos; ninteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Lee is preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers, sister, and daughter, along with his mother and father-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law.
