Lewis G. Vincent

Lewis G Vincent was born to George and Vera Vincent, of Jensen Utah. He was the oldest of two children. He spent most of his time growing up with his grandmother and Uncle Lewis in the Jensen area. In his younger years he was known by Louie and then later in life as big Lew. He graduated from Uintah High School and then served in the United States Navy Stationed in California and Washington. After his service he worked as a mud logger where he traveled to Oklahoma and met the love of his life Lela Mae of Rush Springs Oklahoma, and was married in Amarillo TX. Lew worked for Baroid Mud Company in North Dakota, Idaho, and Wyoming. While in Big Piney Wyoming Lew worked for Belco Petroleum as an office manager, before moving back to Vernal and working for Chevron Oil as a Production Accountant in the Red Wash field where he ended his oilfield career and started his career of choice which was farming and ranching. When he moved back to Vernal he and his brother Verlin owned and operated a dairy on south Vernal Ave until they sold it and bought the Sunshine Ranch, and Halsem Ranch on Blue Mt. where they farmed and raised simmental cattle. Lew served on many boards including, Uintah Basin Jr Livestock Show Committee and as a 4-H leader, Director of Hy-Line and Sunshine Canal, Director Ashley Valley Water, Director Jensen Water Improvement District, Director and President of Deseret Generation, Director and President of Moon Lake Electric, and Uintah County Commissioner. While as a Commissioner he help to get irrigation water for the park, the first ice skating rink and House Bill 134 passed to help fund projects though the mineral lease. He was also involved in the startup of the college scholarship fund for Uintah County. Though the years he loved to travel with Lela Mae, to meet new people and see new places. He has spent the last years working alongside his son Randy on the RV BAR Angus Ranch where he loved to watch the crops grow and the cattle thrive.Lewis was preceded in death by his wife Lela Mae and Parents. He is survived by his son Randy (Tamara) Vincent of Jensen, Daughter Rhonda (Gary) Langham of Rush Spring Oklahoma. Grandchildren Randan (Katherine) Vincent, Alissa Sue (Jake) Wilkins, Sarah Moon, Dustin (Rebecca) Langham. Great Grandchildren Waylon, Josee, Cooper Wilkins, Tucker, Raegan, Madalynn Vincent, Montana, Miana Moon. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 11AM at the Jensen LDS Chapel. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6-8PM at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home and Tuesday 9:45-10:45AM at the Chapel. Interment will be in the Jensen Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 11. Services are under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
