Marilyn Margaret (Watson) Gibbons

April 23, 1948 — June 9, 2024

Vernal

Marilyn Margaret Watson Gibbons passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at the age of 76. Sunday was her favorite day of the week, and she returned home while listening to the Tabernacle Choir's Music and the Spoken Word. Marilyn was born on April 23, 1948 to Melba Bolin and John Stratford Watson in Altadena, California. She married Leland Bruce Gibbons on May 26, 1973 in the Provo Utah Temple. Marilyn loved the gospel of Jesus Christ. She served with all her heart in Stake and Ward Young Women, Relief Society and Primary. She loved the temple and worked in the Vernal Utah Temple for many years. Throughout her life she worked a variety of jobs as a secretary, audio typist, and preschool teacher. Marilyn's smile and kind, gentle manner when interacting with others, whether they knew her or not, made them feel comfortable and welcome. Marilyn enjoyed sewing, crafts, cooking, gardening, and serving others. Above all, she loved and valued her family. Her life revolved around her children, grandchildren, husband, and extended family. She loved to celebrate, play, and make memories with her children and grandchildren. She and Leland were often found driving to sporting events, plays, reunions, or other special occasions to celebrate. We will miss her more than words can express. We find comfort in knowing she is with her mom and dad again and look forward to joyful reunions when we see her again! Marilyn is survived by two sisters - Julie Lederman and Wendy Adams, her husband Leland Gibbons, four children and their spouses - Timothy (Lora) Gibbons, Tyler (Allyson) Gibbons, Tiffany (Justin) Caldwell, Tara (Andrew) Judd, 18 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She is preceded in death by her father, John Stratford Watson and her mother Melba Bolin. Funeral services for Marilyn will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 12Noon at the Maeser Stake Center (2745 West 1000 North). Viewing and visitation for family and friends will be held Friday evening from 6-8PM and Saturday 10:30-11:30AM all at the Church. Interment will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
