Harden Nelson Jr of Vernal Utah died on May 31, 2015 at the age of 81.

He was born on October 3, 1933 in Vernal Utah. He was the son of the late Harden Nelson Sr. and Anna Marie Hollenbeck. He married Janet Robins June 14, 1957 in Vernal Utah. They had been married 57 years. Together they raised 4 children; Stacy, Scott, Darin and Debbie Nelson.

Harden graduated from Uintah High School in 1951. He served in the US Navy and was a lifelong member of the American Legion. He attended Salt Lake Community College and studied business practice and diesel mechanics. Harden worked at Chevron Oil and then went into business as a partner of K and B Sales. Later he worked for the State of Utah where he retired.


Harden's focus in life was his family. He supported his children and grandchildren in anything they wanted to do. He was a baseball coach and the President of the Vernal Boys Baseball Association.

Family vacations were spent at baseball tournaments and camping on the mountain. He loved to go hunting and fishing, and loved to play horseshoes and cards with his family and friends. He also enjoyed bowling on a league and competed in tournaments. Harden was a member of the Vernal Jaycees and Elks.


Survived by Wife Janet Robins Nelson, Daughter Stacy Nelson, Sons Scott Nelson (Gaylene) and Darin Nelson (Kristy). 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.


Preceded in death by Parents Harden and Marie Nelson. Daughter Debra Pummell and grandson Brandon Nelson.


Funeral services were held Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Vernal 8th ward chapel. Interment was in the Vernal Memorial Park with Military honros provided by the American Legion Post 11. Services were under the direction of the Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
