Mary (Clay) Chivers, age 79 of Vernal, wife of Pink Chivers, passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Mary was born in Pampa Texas on August 31, 1944 to James Walter and Minnie Bell Williams Clay. Minnie Bell passed away in an accident when Mary was just shy of 9 years old. Mary was then blessed with her beautiful mother for life Mildred Wilson Clay. Mary was the second of four children. Mary attended 48 schools across the U.S. and Canada. She graduated from Durango High in Durango Colorado in 1962 with honors. She also attended the University of Colorado. At a young age she worked as a waitress at Jim's Cafe. Following her job at the cafe Mary worked with several pipeline and oilfield companies across the states, her office skills were meticulous. In the early 1990's she began her journey in nursing, graduating with the Nighting Gale Award in 1994 and her RN in 1995. At this time she was working at Uintah Care Center, until she was forced to retire due to health concerns. Mary's office skills and nursing gave her the reputation for her outstanding charting aka " The Queen of Charting". Mary married the love of her life D.A. Pink Chivers on May 17, 1985. In this marriage they joined 3 daughters. Michelle "Mikki" Chivers Burchinal, Sharlene "Charlie" Chivers Murray, and Kalee Chivers Grothe. Later Pink and Mary added their beloved friend Crystal (Randy) Reecher aka "Dipshit" into the family with open arms. Mary truly enjoyed her animals raising numerous poodles, kittens and colts. She enjoyed the times she and Pink went on their motorcycle rides with their friends Darris and Billie Smuin. Also one of her greatest joys for over 20 years was CC Racing where together Mary and Pink raised numerous quarter horses and raced them. Finding themselves in the winning circle many times. One of her greatest joys later in life was the time she spent on Diamond Mountain at the cabin. This includes the Chivers Reunions, weekend trips with her sisters and sister-in-laws. Mary loved "loved" with all her heart the miles that she and her sisters Johnnie and Phyllis covered on their 4 wheeling trips. Mary is survived by her husband D.A. Pink Chivers of Vernal, Utah; Daughters Mikki (Chris) Burchinal of St George, Utah; Sharlene/Charlie (Brad) Murray of Vernal, Utah; Kalee Grothe of Farmington, New Mexico. Bonus Daughter Crystal (Randy) Reecher of Roosevelt, Utah; Sister Johnnie (Todd) Searle of Vernal, Utah; mother, Mildred Wilson Clay of Pampa, Texas; sister-in-laws Hazel Biesinger of Vernal, Utah; Faye Dudley of Montrose, Colorado; 13 Grandchildren, 28 Great grandchildren and 2 Great Great granddaughters with 3 more great grandchildren on the way. Also her beloved pets Bubba and Hoot. Preceded in death by mother Minnie Bell Williams Clay, nephew Todd Matthew Searle, father James Walter Clay, Brother James Freeman Clay, sister Phyllis Brooking. Many sister-in-laws & brother-in-laws and several beloved pets. Funeral services for Mary will be held Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 11:00am. Visitations will be held Wednesday from 6:00pm ~ 8:00pm and Thursday from 9:45am ~ 11:00am all at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. Interment will be in Vernal Memorial Park.
