Obituary Mary Evelyn McCann

Mary Evelyn Gleed McCann was born in Shelly, Idaho to Glen Edwin Gleed and Della Dora Dye Gleed, on June 10, 1942. She peacefully left this earthly experience on March 22, 2026 at the age of eighty-three.

During her childhood her family moved around to find work in Idaho, Montana, and Washington. She was one of six children and developed a strong work ethic. As the middle child, she helped her family by watching the younger siblings while the older siblings worked, until she was old enough to go out and work herself.

While working on the back of her uncle's potato digger pulling vines, she met a handsome young man. She married Edward Carl McCann on March 19, 1960 in Warden, Washington. They were later sealed together with their four children in the Calgary, Alberta temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint on March 19, 1980.

Mary spent most of her life serving others, she lived a life of love and devotion to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. After High school she graduated with top honors in the nursing program, she worked as an LPN nurse and Physical Therapy assistant at Othello Community hospital. Along with her husband she managed the family rental business, working tirelessly there for 40 years, until they sold the business and moved to Vernal, Utah to retire in 2015.

Mary was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a dedicated faithful visiting teacher who exemplified the art of ministering to others. She held many callings that made a difference for those she served. She also spent many long hours searching out family names and vicariously performing temple ordinances in their behalf.

Her happy place was bargain shopping at the Goodwill and DI, and going to yard sales. She was always up for a game of pinocle or staying up late putting together puzzles. She loved fresh garden vegetables and grew a garden each year. Her concern for others lead her to share her knowledge about healing with natural remedies, she learned while battling with her own health struggles.

Mary is survived by her loving husband Edward, her children (Paul Wyatt), Kim (Daniel) Barnhurst, Aaron (Elva) McCann, Melinda (Blake) Bennion, her twelve grandchildren, Scott, Kyle, Trevor, Brandon, Savannah, Nathan, Kristin, Amber, Aaron Jr., Whitney, Sara, and Megan and fourteen great grandchildren, Meica, Melia, Miles, Evelyn, Wyatt, Jameson, June, Eleanor, Leah, Clark, Luke, Adaline, Jack, and Roman. Her sisters Darlene "Sue" (Bob) White, Helen Teats, and Linda Cleveland, Sister-in-laws Rosie Gleed Ware and Anna Gleed.

Mary is proceeded in death by her oldest daughter Brenda Wyatt, her parents Glen and Della Gleed, and her brothers, Harold, Glen (Ronnie), and Thomas (Tommy) Gleed.
