Mary Ann Thompson passed away on March 27th, 2025, peacefully in her home at the age of 81. Mary was born September 14th 1943 in Marshfield Wisconsin to Theodore (Ted) William Sinclear and Alyce Geraldine (Gery) Lord, Sinclear. Mary loved life and was always ready for new adventures. She had many accomplishments in life and nursing career would have been her most memorable. Mary was a nurse at Uintah Basin Medical Center for 15 years. There she assisted many doctors and families in welcoming their new babies. Mary had a love for all things and a way with all things growing; flora, feathered, finned, furred and family. Mary's heart always knew when someone or something needed her. She had an ease to her that made her easy to trust and to love. When you met Mary, it never took long to strike up a meaningful conversation. She gave us the feeling that she knew us and saw us better than we did ourselves, and would guide us to find and to believe what she saw. She was not only a sister, an aunt, or a colleague, but the best and truest friend to all who knew her. Both parents were teachers and Mary learned to love reading at an early age. She loved a good mystery or heart-warming animal story and enjoyed sharing her favorites. Mary's garden, at her previous home in Lapoint, was her pride and joy. She found happiness in heritage or out-of-the-norm tomatoes, along with her beautiful walk-in garden that had numerous colorful flowers, and a quiet little bench set under a young tree next to a small puddle of a pond. This love for gardening carried over to her new home in Vernal 7.5 years ago, only on a much smaller scale. Mary's passion for living things was only too obvious. If any of us were to pass on before her, we'd all want to be reborn as one of Mary's pets or plants. Each had a name befitting it and a special place alongside her. If we're being honest, her four-legged, feathered and botanical kids were spoiled more than most children. She had a collection of cook ware, cook books, and the know-how that would rival any chef. Mary filled our hearts with love, our memories with smiles and laughter, and will be missed greatly. She is survived by her brother Curt Sinclear, his wife Jean Nitschke-Sinclear, their two children Ian Sinclear (wife Elan children Laney, Landon and Luke) and Caitrin Day (husband Kedron children Kiernan and Hadley). As well as her very special kitty Pretty Boy (Charlie/Ollie) and collection of house plants. She is preceded in death by her father and mother. A celebration of life for Mary Ann will be held later this spring, Caitrinwill post a notice on Facebook. Arrangements under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
