Matthew Jay Simper

Matthew Jay Simper, 42, passed away on July 28, 2022 in Clearfield, Utah. He was born April 20, 1980 in Vernal, Utah to Terry Simper and Jeane Turner. After high school, Matt began working as an equipment technician in the oil field. He worked and lived in many places, including Nevada, North Dakota, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah. He loved good food and was an excellent cook. He enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and golfing. Matt had a big heart and will be greatly missed by so many. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jay and Lois Simper, and Dan and Phyllis Turner. Matt is survived by his girlfriend, Julie Cunningham; parents, Terry and Angie Simper, and Jeane (Turner) Brooks; siblings Roy Eaton, Corwin (Jenni Brown) Simper, Mandi (Bud) Batty, Kristen (Wade) Richens, Megan (Jake) Rinderknecht, Maddie (Tim) Wilson, and Wyatt Simper; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Funeral services for Matt will be held Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 11:00am at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home, (410 North 800 West), Vernal, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held 9:00am ~ 10:45am at the mortuary. Interment will be at the Vernal Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
