Melvin Watson

May 29, 1943 — January 5, 2013

At age 69, born May 29, 1943 in Seagraves, Texas to Clifford Lee and Mary Belle Jackson Watson, Melvin " Mike" Lee Watson left his earthly home to join his Father in Heaven on January 5, 2013 after a very long, hard, courageous battle with C.O.P.D.

Dad enjoyed many things about life... the mountains, fishing, camping, target shooting, horse shoes, playing pool, watching the fights, wood working, yard work, family barbeques, and watching the football and jazz games with his grandson, Dennis.

Dad enjoyed a hard day's work, and always looked forward to a new day with a prank up his sleeve to pull. Kenny and Dad became known around as "Bevis and Butthead".

Dad had many talents and gifts, and there wasn't a thing he didn't put his mind to that wasn't accomplished. He became a friend to many. Dad served in the U.S. Army and was very proud of his country. He had a big heart and was very proud of his family, along with the love of his life Veronica (Bennie) Upshaw Watson; daughters Amber (Ryan) Kinslow, Kim (Jim) Gregory, Tyra (Mateo) Cuara, Jennifer (Rick) Archuleta, and Jowee (Dani) Sulaui; sons Lee Watson, Billy Watson, Bobby (Melynda) Watson, and Gregory Upshaw; many grandkids and one great grandson; sisters Joann (Jack) Capps, Lula "Pete" (Gene) Floyd; half sisters Peggy Payton, and Faye Herdon, and one half brother Colon Sweet, along with many loving extended family.

He is greeted in heaven with open arms by those who went before him; his parents, Clifford and Mary; sister, Pete, and late wife Nancy Bird Watson.

Thanks Dad for being the hard working, kind spoken, understanding, great example son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to us all. You will be greatly missed and never forgotten. We love you Dad!
