Michael D. Goddard passed away on May 12, 2026, at the age of 71. Michael was born on October 28, 1954, to Doris and Michael Goddard in Corpus Christi Texas. Michael married Lauri on March 16, 1990, in Elko Nevada.

Michael was baptized on May 1, 1956, and confirmed into the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod on May 1, 1968. He was a long-time trustee and elder of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Michael worked for Burns and McDonnell helping to design and build power plants. He came to Vernal to help build the Deseret Power plant. He then started working there as an engineer, operational supervisor, and then maintenance superintendent. Part of his job was to oversee the plant outages.

Michael loved the outdoors. He was an avid cross country and downhill skier. Mike loved hiking and backpacking, tracking, rope climbing, camping, fishing, canoeing, and boating. He used many of these skills when he joined Search and Rescue. He also acquired his EMT and Wilderness EMT licenses, which he used as an ambulance driver and first responder. He greatly enjoyed family trips and outings to various sites around the country including Moab, Yellowstone, and the Oregon coast.

He is survived by his wife Lauri, his two sons, Jacob and Mathew, daughter in law, Kelly, and granddaughters, Nora and Ruby. He is also survived by his father, Michael Goddard, his brothers, Daniel, Mark, and David, his sisters-in-law, Tamara and Maureen Goddard, and Kris Christiansen, brother-in-law, Dan Christiansen, and his nieces and nephews, Brian Brinks, Casey and Jenny Addy, Daniel and Kayla Christiansen, Jessica and Joe Lucot, Alex and Marlen Goddard, Seth and Kari Goddard, Dane and Tiffany Grebisz, Ben and Tara Gibson, Isabella Goddard, Sarah Bridget Goddard, and many grand nieces and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his mother Doris Goddard, sister-in-law, Cori Goddard, nephew Mike Brinks, and mother and father-in-law, Harold and Betty Keller.

Funeral Services for Michael will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Our Savior Lutheran Church at 370 S 500 W, Vernal, UT 84078. A viewing for family and friends will be held on May 21, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Rock Point Cemetery.
