Mike was born in Vernal, Utah on August 8, 1954. He graduated from Uintah High School in 1972 and attended Utah State University on a wresting scholarship. He worked in several oil field jobs and eventually went on to start his own business in the oil field where he hauled water, rented equipment, and installed pit liners. He also owned and operated storage units, and was a true entrepreneur at heart.
Mike enjoyed life to the fullest and had several hobbies and interests including riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, boating, spending time on the mountain, drinking coffee, and visiting with friends at the coffee shop. He loved and cherished the many friends he had near and far, and enjoyed spending time with them. He loved listening to music, particularly "good" rock and roll music and could often be found sitting in the car listening to his favorite music. One of his favorite yearly trips was going to Sturgis and letting out his wild side. He was a dreamer and schemer, and was always coming up with new and inventive ideas. He was extremely kind hearted and often helped others who were in need, such as picking up hitchhikers, paying for other people's tabs, and employing people who needed work. He loved his dogs and enjoyed taking them with him wherever he went. Mike was a true fighter in this life, whether it was fighting the many speeding tickets he received or fighting the cancer he had for a good portion of his life.
The funeral services will be held in Vernal, Utah at the Glines 6th Ward Chapel (Aggie Blvd) on June 26, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6~8P.M. at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Maeser Cemetery.
