In Loving Memory of Mildred Wright Seitz

Mildred Wright Seitz, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, was born July 29, 1932, in Blanding, Utah, to Lawrence Wright and Lucille Palmer Wright. Mom passed away September 24, 2026. She grew up in Blanding, Utah alongside her siblings, LeVae, Lamar, Melvin, and Ann. Her childhood was filled with family, hard work, and the lessons that would guide her throughout her life learning how to work hard, serve others, and love those around her.

Those qualities carried beautifully into Mom's married life. She was a homemaker in every sense of the word, creating a home filled with love, warmth, good food, faith in God, and memories. She cultivated a vegetable garden and carefully preserved the fruits of her labor. Her family will always remember her homemade bread, rolls, and cookies, each made with love and somehow always tasting better than anything else. Around Halloween each year, Mom would begin making her famous Christmas candy, a tradition eagerly anticipated by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. She worked hard to beautify her home inside and out. The joke with the family is that you could always eat off the kitchen floor and it would probably be more sanitary than a plate that was just washed. Mom loved her rose garden and would always take time to smell the roses.

Mom met her eternal companion, Jack Seitz, in St. George, Utah, where they both attended Dixie College (Utah Tech). Mom was a member of the basketball team, and Jack quickly became one of her most devoted fans. He was determined to win her heart, chasing her around campus and never missing a basketball game. Eventually, his persistence paid off. Dad proposed, Mom said yes, and the two were married and sealed together for time and all eternity on July 12, 1952, in the St. George Utah Temple.

Throughout their married life, Mom and Dad sought to make a difference for good wherever they were. Their influence reached into their community, their state, and their church. Mom faithfully served in many callings, but perhaps her greatest gift was something much more personal: her ability to reach out to the one. She had a special way of noticing those who needed a friend, a helping hand, encouragement, or simply someone who cared for them. She followed the example of the Savior by making people feel seen, loved, and valued.

While Mom accomplished much through her service, her greatest love and accomplishment was always her family. She treasured every child, grandchild, and great-grandchild and took great joy in watching her family grow and supporting them in endless events. She is survived by her children, Jacque (DeArmon) Batty, Sheldon (Sydney) Seitz, Catherine (Tod) Tesar, Gordon (Jill) Seitz, and Neldon (Dawna) Seitz; 26 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Lucille Wright; her sister, LeVae; her brothers, Lamar and Melvin; her beloved husband, Jack; her grandson, Jaise; her granddaughter, Christi; and a great, great-grandson, Layne.

Mom leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, hard work, generosity, and, above all, love. Her family will remember the sound of her laughter, the warmth of her home, the food she lovingly prepared, the traditions she created, and the countless quiet acts of kindness she offered throughout her life.

Her greatest legacy, however, is found in the people she loved and the lives she touched. She taught her family not only by what she said, but by the way she lived: work hard, serve others, love your family, keep your covenants, and never overlook the one who may need you.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is once again with Dad, her eternal companion and those who preceded her, and we look forward to the day when we can be reunited with them. Until then, Mom's love, example, and memory will continue to live on in the generations she so dearly loved.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 2, 2026, at 11:00am at Vernal Stake Center (850 West 100 North). A viewing and visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 6:00pm ~ 8:00pm at Ashely Valley Funeral Home and Friday 9:30am ~ 10:30am at the church. Interment will be held at Vernal Memorial park.
