He attended school in both Vernal, Utah and in Heber, Utah and graduated with the class of 1946 at Uintah High.

He married his high school sweetheart, Nera Mae Powell on August 24, 1946 in Vernal. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti, Utah Temple.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years and children: LeeAnne (Pete) Richardson, Ellen Rae (Lloyd) Lemon, Ivan (Bill) William (Joella) Batty and Miles Randy (Tammie) Batty; 18 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. Miles worked for Chevron Oil Company for 36 years, working in the Redwash and Neola, Utah fields. He enjoyed his years there and made lifetime friends who remained very close up until his death; affectionately referred to as the Chevron Gang.

Miles was a master carpenter building many homes throughout the valley. He was known to be able to build anything. He was also an expert plumber, electrician, and cabinetmaker. You name it, he could build it. Miles was a man of countless talents.

He is especially famous for being a great husband, father and grandfather. There was nothing he couldn't do and nothing he wouldn't do for his family.

His greatest joy and accomplishments came from his loving relationship with his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, horse-riding, staying at the cabin on Diamond Mountain, deer hunting, vacationing in Mexico, Quartzite, AZ, Canada, and Disneyland with his grandkids.
