N. Kay Monson

July 1, 1989 — October 15, 2024

Vernal

Nathan Kay Monson passed away on October 15th, 2024 at the age of 35 in Vernal, Ut. Kay was born on July 1st, 1989 to Janna Lee Watt Monson and Ernest Evans Monson in Price, Utah. Kay married Kaitlyn Rawlins Monson on May 25th, 2012 in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. Kay began working in the coal mines fixing mine equipment right out of high school. After marrying Kaitlyn, they moved to Vernal where Kay worked as a lease operator. Together they had two kids, Ryder (9) and Kiah (8). Kay worked hard supporting his family and serving those around him until health concerns made it hard to do the things he loved. Everyone who knew Kay knew his love for his family and friends. Kay could often be found doing acts of service whether it be helping someone bring in their groceries, taking flowers to a widowed neighbor, and helping his family members. Being of good cheer and service to others was his hallmark. Some of Kays happiest times in life were when he welcomed his two children to this life. He absolutely loved being a father and spending time with his children. He loved to take his family on new adventures, to try new food, and explore God's creations in nature. He loved to target shoot with family and friends. Kay had a love for music which he shared with others through song and guitar. He loved to weld and family get togethers where he made a mean street taco and was king of the smoker and barbecuer. His heart was as big as he was, and his smile and epic hugs were a gift he shared with family and friends. He never left without an I love you! Kay will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Kaitlyn, son Ryder, daughter Kiah, father Ernest, mother Janna, brothers Shayne (Kim), Kirt (Sheli), Ryan (Mindy), Lynn (Nikki), Kyle (Tarrin), father and mother-in-law Delmar and Connie Rawlins, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by grandparents James and Ann Watt, and Katherine and Bud Monson. Memorial Services for Kay will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 12:00pm at the Maeser 4th Ward Chapel, 2575 North 1500 West. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00am ~ 11:45am all at the church. Services under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
