Nancy Elizabeth Long

Just 15 days from what would be her 64th birthday, our sweet, talented and spirited little sister traveled from a world of suffering and confinement to a much better place.Nancy Elizabeth Long was born November 1, 1956 to our beloved parents, Mildred Duvall and Denver C. Long. She is survived by her sister Kathleen Cartwright (Gary), brother Kenneth D. Long (Tammy), and 20 nieces and nephews.A graduate of Uintah High School, she worked several years for Superior Meat Company in Vernal and later moved to Sandy, Utah where she was hired as the first female meat inspector for the Utah Dept. of Agriculture. Nancy worked there for 27 years, where she had many accomplishments and recognitions.Nancy was a talented artist, proficient in martial arts, royalty in the Vernal Dinosaur Roundup several years running. She loved to collect Western and Native American memorabilia, antiques, toy tractors, as well as 2002 Olympic pins and collectibles. She was also a huge fan of the Utah Jazz and other sports teams.Though Nancy never married or had a child of her own, she has given the ultimate gift of a better life to others through her organ and tissue donation.Even with her many health issues, Nancy never complained, kept a positive attitiude, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.In lieu of flowers please donate to Primary Children's Hospital.A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 12:00P.M at the Vernal Memorial Park (1700 South Vernal Avenue). A viewing for family and friends will be held Tuesday morning from 10:30~11:30A.M. at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home (410 North 800 West).
