Patricia Hemsley

Our beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend Patricia Patti Hemsley passed peacefully on September 25, 2020, at the age of 72 in Vernal, Utah. Patti was born in Brigham City, Utah on December 29, 1947, to Philip P. and Afton O. Ficarra. Growing up, the family often moved as her father served in the U.S. Army. They lived on military bases in Okinawa, California, and Georgia before settling in Ogden, Utah. She married Raymond Lyle Hemsley on May 23, 1968, in the Logan LDS Temple. After living in the Ogden area for a short time, they moved into her dream home in North Ogden and raised their two children. Throughout these years her love for the outdoors continued in the many family camping trips to Tonys Grove, Flaming Gorge, Yellowstone and other beautiful spots in the mountains. Patti was always excited to go on a weekend drive with the family. She went on an adventurous road trip with her parents and sister to Alaska...twice! This is where she found a fascination for the Native American culture, which led to her extensive collection of Native American jewelry, books, and varied pieces of art. Activities she enjoyed included ceramics, calligraphy, and reading. Her patience and genuine care for people lead her to employment in various customer service positions including Living Scriptures, Deseret Industries, and Maverick. In her retirement she enjoyed telling the stories of her life as an Army brat, driving the Alaska Highway, and many other adventures to friends and family. Being with her grandchildren was a true joy! She loved them to infinity and beyond the stars! She had the biggest heart and never hesitated to lend all she could to help, even to the extent of giving above her means. Her polite, caring, and giving soul will be extremely missed. She is survived by her daughter Lynette (Chris) Eldredge, son Jason (LoriAnn) Hemsley, mother Afton Ficarra, sister BettyAnn Ficarra, nephew Daniel Ficarra, grandchildren Samantha and Crystal Eldredge, Kamri and Kade Hemsley. Patti was preceded in death by her father Philip Ficarra, and several family members whom she loved dearly.
