Patricia "Trish" Marie (Widener) Metzger

Patricia "Trish" Marie (Widener) Metzger, age 65, of Vernal, Utah passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at her home. She was born on May 7, 1960, to JoAnn and Don Widener in Cheyenne, WY. She spent her youth traveling with her family from Alaska to Arizona for work. She married John Boykin on March 26, 1976. They had two children, Jason and Michael. Not long after Michael was born John passed away leaving Trisha a widow with two young children before the age of twenty. She later met Michael Goodwin and together they brought Jesse into the family even though the two never married. She was always there for her boys. She always looked out for them and had their best interest at heart. On May 7, 1993, she married William "Bill" Metzger. They moved around due to his military career; after living in California, Arizona, and Colorado they finally made a home in Vernal, Utah. Trish had great love for her family. She especially loved being a grandma and a great grandma. She was always talking about her grandchildren and sending pictures to relatives for them to enjoy. She and her sister Karen were especially close and talked almost daily. In her younger years she liked to go arrowhead hunting, hiking, exploring, traveling, and fast cars. Trish has always enjoyed shopping a lot. She called it her retail therapy. She was witty and was always down for a good laugh. She loved doing hair and make-up and was a cosmetologist at one point. She loved her cat and treated her like family. She is survived by her sister: Karen (Bill) Zimmerman, sons: Jason Boykin, Michael Boykin and Jesse (Shannon) Boykin. Her Grandchildren Echo, Zairen, Deion, Cameron, Lieff, Saje, Reede, Emmarie, Payton, Effie, Eli, and Preston. Great grandchildren: Karson and Zade, and many nieces and nephews. Trish is preceded in death by her husbands John Boykin and Bill Metzger, father; Don Widener, mother: JoAnn (Robert) Amick, sister: Debbie Widener, brother: Steve Widener, sister: Susan Melton and nephew Christopher Melton UPDATED Memorial services for Trish will be held Saturday, June 7th at 2:00pm at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home, 410 North 800 West in Vernal.
