Patrick Allen Nichols

We are saddened to announce the unexpected passing of a true icon, guardian and guide to the illustrious trout waters of the American West. Patrick Nichols passed, Monday, December 16, 2019 at his home in Vernal, UT.Patrick was born on January 8th, 1952 to Juanita and Robert Nichols. He had three brothers Mark, Robin and Dave and two sisters Linda and Mary.Patrick married of this union Kyle was born, you didnt talk to Pat without him expressing the love he had for Kyle and fishing.Pat had a Zen like philosophical approach to reading water, hatches and people. When he wasn't on the Green River guiding for the Flaming Gorge Lodge, he was working tirelessly on fundraising projects as the President of High Desert Anglers and serving on the Governors Council for Blue Ribbon Fisheries, establishing habitat restorations to protect and preserve the waters of which held the trout sacred to him.As he grew up his adventurous spirit kept him longing to be in Nature hunting, exploring and photographing the wildest parts of his Youth. He always found himself chasing his own dreams and dreamed of becoming an Olympic swimmer as he competed in college for Oakland University. A true fish out of water, he then pursued a career in dentistry only to find himself engulfed in his only true love and passion... Fly fishing.He was a friend to many, father to few and a teacher to all. The lessons he has instilled in his family, many clients and those closest to him will forever carry on his memory.There will be a celebration of his life on Sunday, December 29th at the Flaming Gorge Lodge at 6:00p.m. Please Join us as we celebrate his life and memory.
