Paul William Mccoy

Paul was born in Vernal, Utah to Lois Martin and Clifton Walter McCoy on February 28, 1947. He was the youngest of four older brothers. He was a lifelong resident of Uintah County. He married Sandy Holmes on August 5th, 1966. They are the proud parents of four amazing children: Kenneth Clifton (Joleigh), Russell Walter, Kristy Dawn, and Morgan Paul (Ann); and five beautiful grandchildren: Riley Paul, Colt James, Jessica Jones, Lillian Elizabeth, and Abigail Morgan. He graduated from Uintah High School in 1965 and attended Utah State University for one year. He also served in the Utah National Guard. The family livestock business was started in the late 1800s by his grandfather, Walt McCoy and was continued by his father Clif McCoy. They originally ran it as a sheep outfit, but switched over to cattle in the 1960s. Paul has successfully continued this business as a cow/feeder calf operation full-time. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Paul had been a member of various organizations that promote livestock businesses that are trying to preserve this wonderful way of life. His hobbies were work, work, and more work. He truly loved what he did. Paul was also an avid reader of seemingly everything, from daily comics to complete encyclopedia sets. He had a natural curiosity about the world and its history, and was always an exceptional storyteller with his friends and family; imparting stories that he had either learned or personally lived through. When Paul spoke, everyone listened closely. He is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren, Floyd, and Brenda Rasmussen and family, brother John McCoy, several nieces and nephews, many friends, and old cowboys. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Charles Paul Jones, brothers Myles, Gordon and Walter, and special friends Morgan Hall, Val Mortenson, and Ray Hunting. Funeral services for Paul will be held Tuesday October 4, 2022 at 11:00am at the Glines LDS Chapel on the highway (1499 West Highway 40). Visitation and viewing for family and friends will be held Monday, October 3, 2022 from 6:00pm ~ 8:00pm at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home and Tuesday from 9:45am ~ 10:45am at the chapel on the highway.
