Peter Abballe

December 25, 1960 — June 2, 2014

Peter Michael Abballe, of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii and Alta, Utah, passed away June 2, 2014. Peter was born December 25, 1960 to William Donald and Mary Christine Abballe at Johnson Air Force Base, Japan.

Peter was known for his insatiable appetite for adventure, his humility, quiet generosity, down-to-earth optimism, and his beautiful smile. He inspired others to experience life to the fullest. When recently asked what more he wanted in life, Peter answered: "Nothing. I've already had more than I ever imagined."

Peter resided in his two favorite places on earth: Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, where he loved to surf, dive, sail, golf and backpack; and Alta, Utah, enjoying extreme skiing, mountain biking and rock climbing. Peter was a voracious reader with history, biography, and travel literature among his chief interests. Peter lettered in football, track and cross-country at Niceville High School, before graduating in 1979. He also played lacrosse for Florida State University, where he earned an Associates Degree in 1981. Peter worked as a home builder, for which he received many accolades. As a carpenter, he was widely regarded a true craftsman.

Peter is survived by his parents William and Mary Christine Abballe, brother and sister-in-law, William and Ashley Abballe, three nieces, Katherine, Lucy and Anna Abballe, and sister, Susan Abballe.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 87 Lacy Street, Marietta, Georgia. A second memorial will take place on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at The Alta Lodge in Alta, Utah.
