Rachel Ann Kirk

On September 25, 2020, Rachel Ann Kirk passed away at home surrounded by her family. Rachel Ann Riley Kirk was born June 15, 1933 in Madison, Missouri to Lillian Garnell Riggs Riley and Arthur Raymond Riley. She was the third child and only daughter. She graduated from Southeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1951. She worked for Safeway Stores, Incorporated in the Regional office. She was a district office managers secretary for seven years. She met the love of her life Gene Conrad Kirk in Kansas City, Missouri in September of 1954 and they were married December 20, 1954. They went on to raise a family of six children while living in Missouri, Utah, Louisiana, Illinois and New Zealand. Rachel and Gene were sealed in the Manti LDS temple October 20, 1959. She was the main support of her husband while he pursued a degree in education for 6 years and then while he taught school for 25 years. She worked at Days Grocery Store as a checker/ price coordinator for seven years. She was a substitute teacher for four years and worked as a legal secretary for Kenneth G. Anderton for ten years. She served in various capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She also was a temple worker in the Vernal, Utah temple. She was a fabulous homemaker known for her cooking and sewing capabilities. There wasnt anything she couldnt sew or create in the kitchen. She was well known for her candy making and always shared it with her ward members and her husbands co-workers. She is survived by four children Douglas Gene (Marie) Kirk; Rebecca Garnell Kirk (Darrell) Matthews; Cynthia Marie Kirk (Cory) Jones; and Jeffrey Morgan (Karri) Kirk. She was preceded in death by two children Deborah Ann Kirk Southam and Richard Conrad Kirk. Her sweetheart of 63 years preceded her on November 30, 2017. She has 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and one deceased grandson and one deceased great-grandson. She has been a resident of Vernal, Utah since 1973. Graveside services will be held Monday, September 28, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Maeser Fairview Cemetery. A viewing for family and friends will be held Monday 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.Visitation Mon, Sep 28, 2020 at 9:00 am - 10:30 amVernal Memorial Park
