Ray Labrum

Ray Edgar Labrum passed away quietly in his sleep beside the love of his life on July 3, 2025 at age 87.

Ray was born July 12th 1937 to Veda Murray and Edgar Labrum in Roosevelt Ut. He graduated from Union High School in 1955 then he began working at the local Safeway store until he joined the Army in 1960. He served in Ancorage Alaska in the 23rd infantry as a communications specialist and Leadership on combat tactics specialist. After returning home from service in 1962 he met the love of his life Priscilla Kynaston.

Ray Labrum and Priscilla Kynaston were married February 8, 1963 in the Logan Utah Temple they made their home in Roosevelt where he returned to work as assistant manager for Safeway.

In 1971 he was transferred to Vernal to manage the new store, he continued his career in the grocery business working for Farmer Jack, and IGA, then retired 1998 after 44 years in the grocery industry.

Ray is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as temple worker with his wife for many years. He loved Fishing, Hunting, Camping and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Priscilla Labrum, Children Destry (Julie) Labrum, Sherri (Scott) Gross, Scott (Angeleen) Labrum, Sister Joann Bastian, 13 Grandchildren & 24 Great Grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by Parents Edgar & Veda Labrum, In-laws Alden & Della Kynaston, Brother-in-laws Elvin Bastian, David Kynaston, Dennis Wilson, Sister-in-laws Charlotte Kynaston, Vicki Kynaston.

Funeral services for Ray will be held on his 88th birthday July 12, 2025 at 11:00 at Vernal Utah Stake Center. A Viewing will be held July 11, 2025 6pm-8pm at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home and July 12, 2025 at 9:30-10:45 at Vernal Stake Center. Interment will be in the Roosevelt Cemetery with Military Honors by the American Legion Roosevelt Post 64.
