Reah (Toone) Allred

April 27, 1948 — May 21, 2025

Vernal / New Mexico

Reah Toone Allred, our loving mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully in her home in Artesia, New Mexico, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, just 24 days past her 77th birthday. She was surrounded by her six daughters and left this world as she lived-quietly caring for the people she loved. Early Life Reah was born in Vernal, Utah, to Hyrum Charles and Irma Swett Toone. She spent her childhood in Granger, Kamas, Midway, and Vernal, finally graduating from Uintah High School. Marriage & Family On August 10, 1966, Reah married Glenn D. Allred in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The two later divorced. Together, they raised six spunky, vivacious, and independent daughters who were the joy of her life. Career Reah joined the U.S. Postal Service in 1978 and served her community with a ready smile until her retirement. Smiling was easy since her six daughters frequented the Post Office break room in rotation. Creative Passions Whether painting ceramics or quilting, Reah found delight in creating beauty for others. Many family members and friends treasure the gifts she crafted by hand. She also diligently sewed a unique wedding dress for each of her six daughters-labors of love that perfectly captured their unique styles. She sharpened her sewing skills early on by making matching shirts for her girls during outings so she could keep track of them. Faith & Service Baptized by her brother Grant on May 6, 1956, Reah was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in numerous callings and fulfilled a mission at the Church History Library in Salt Lake City (2013-2014). There, she shared her love of genealogy and her gift for making everyone feel at home. Reah loved to serve others and always looked for opportunities to do small acts of kindness or give thoughtful gifts-even gently used treasures-whenever she felt someone might benefit from them.
