Richard Paul Ingram

Richard P. Ingram, beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather was received into the loving arms of Christ on June 30, 2026. He was born a farmer's son on October 17, 1931, to Paul and Rose Ingram on his great grandfather's homestead ranch in Nephi, UT. He married Geraldine Barlow Ingram on December 27, 1953. His life was full of love, faith and family until the very end.

He was raised in Nephi, UT, spending his days riding horses and killing rattle snakes until 1944 when his father bought a dairy farm in Naples, UT and moved the family. Richard loved hunting, fishing, and riding his horse in the Uinta Mountains. He graduated from Uintah High School in 1950. Tired of waking up at 4:30 am to milk cows, Richard joined the National Guard in January 1951. In January 1952 he joined the U.S. Coast Guard where he served until January 1955. During his time in the U.S. Coast Guard, he crossed the Pacific Ocean three times and performed five patrols between San Francisco and Honolulu. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and Korean Service Medal. On September 28, 2018, he was awarded the Ambassador of Freedom Medal by the Republic of Korea Ambassador alongside other Korean War Veterans from Utah. He was honored and proud to have served his country.

While stationed in his home port of Alameda, CA, Richard met the love of his life, Geraldine "Jeri" Barlow who was from Blackfoot, ID. They met the day before Richard set sail and Jeri was waiting on the dock the day he got back. They were married on December 27, 1953, in Berkely, CA and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on March 25, 1955. After his service in the Korean War, Richard and Jeri lived in Martinez, California. This is where they welcomed their four children, twins Allan and Wesley and daughters Diane and Denice. Richard worked for Shell Chemical and P.G.&E and served as a Boy Scout Master for the LDS church. On one infamous trip, he took 10 boys from scout troop No.188 on a 50-mile hike summitting Mt Lyell in Yosemite National Park.

Richard and Jeri moved their family to Vernal, UT in 1962. Richard began working for the Phosphate Mine where he remained for 32 years, retiring from Simplot in 1994 as a mine mechanic and foreman. Additionally, he helped his father with the family dairy farm.

After retiring, Richard and Jeri traveled the west coast from Alaska, through Canada down to California and went on two ocean cruises. He fished in every spot you know and some you don't in the Uinta Basin. Richard was a gifted woodworker and gardener, always happiest with a project underway at home. He had a wonderful sense of humor and made friends wherever he went. He will be remembered for his warmth, humor, craftsmanship, adventurous spirit, and the love he shared with family and friends. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his son Allan Ingram (Janice) of Redstone, CO; daughter Denice Stringham (Bret) of Vernal, UT, son-in-law Gary Barmore (Sherry) of West Bountiful, UT; grandchildren Julie Gabriel (Steve), Telina Stringham (Mike), Chris Barmore, Logan Barmore, Lang Ingram (Amy), and Anna Cotton (Eddy); great-grandchildren Easton Gabriel, Sadie and Sam Olson, Mira, Madelyn and Miles Ingram, Kestley and Colbie Cotton.

He was proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Geraldine Ingram, son Wesley, daughter Diane Barmore, granddaughter Angel Barmore, older sister Betty, and parents Paul and Rose.

The family would like to give special thanks to Richard's hospice nurse, Kim for taking great care of him. They became best friends, as often was the case with all who knew Richard.

Funeral Service for Richard Ingram will be Monday, July 13, 2026, at 10:00am at Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home (410 North 800 West). Interment will be in the Vernal Memorial Park. Military Honors by the American Legion Post 11.
