Major Robert (Bob) Owen Lindsay Sr., a decorated 22-year U.S Air Force Veteran passed peacefully on October 10, 2022, at the Lindsay family cabin in Coalville, Utah. He was born on September 26, 1931, in New Rochelle, New York to parents Maxwell Henry Archibald Lindsay and Myrtle Owen Steeves Lindsay. After graduating from Highschool he enlisted in the Airforce. Bob had a lengthy career in the Air Force, and it led him on many adventures. He lived in many countries and quite enjoyed being a pilot. He had been stationed all over the world, Spain, Japan, Iceland, New Jersey, Texas, California, and Utah. His life took him all over the world and he got to see places most of us just dream about. Ultimately, he ended up being stationed at Hill Air Force Base as a test pilot and fell in love with Utah and all that Utah has to offer. His love for water skiing, boating, motorcycles, snow skiing, and the mountains was the reason he decided to move his family here when he retired from the military. Bob still had things he wanted to do when he was done with the Air Force, so he decided to open a Motorcycle self Service repair shop that eventually grew into Lindsay Machine Racing that still is in the family after 51 years. He also owned an Arctic Cat snowmobile dealership, ran desert races, built a family cabin in the Wasatch Mountains, traveled, played golf, fished, went boating and much more. Bob met the love of his life when he was only 15 years old at a church hayride. Her name was Peggy and he knew instantly that he wanted to marry her. Together they would marry, have two sons together and a lifetime of love, laughter, memories, and happiness. Bob is preceded in death by his wife Margaret (Peggy)Lindsay, Son-Steven Lindsay, brother Mac Lindsay, and Son-Robert Lindsay. He is survived by his daughter in law Pamela Lindsay, Sister-in-law Nancy Holtkamp (Freddy), Sister-in-law Lynn Lindsay, three grandchildren, Kristin Vanstaveren (Bryan), Robert Lindsay-Bodily (Dylan), David Lindsay (Kimberly) and five great grandchildren, Joseph Vanstaveren, Tyson Vanstaveren, Sydnee Vanstaveren, Aaliyah Lindsay & Cooper Lindsay. A memorial in his honor will be on Saturday November 12th at 10:00am at Mountain Vista United Methodist Church, (8931 s. 3200 w. West Jordan Utah 84088). Full Military Honors will begin right at 10:00am from the American Legion and the United States Air Force. A light lunch will follow the services.
