Robert Gale Pitchford, 82, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026. Born on November 11, 1943, to Blanche and Gale Pitchford in Park City, Utah. On July 27, 1961, he wed his beloved Dorothy Elaine Rich in Logan, Utah, beginning a beautiful life together.
Robert grew up with a natural talent for working with his hands. A mechanic by trade and passion, Robert spent his life doing what he loved. If his health had permitted, he would still be under the hood of a car or truck today. Retirement never meant slowing down; it just gave him more time to tinker with his own projects. He lived by a simple code: work hard and play hard. When he wasn't in the garage, he could often be found fishing, camping, and enjoying the outdoors.
Robert’s ultimate joy was classic cars and hot rods. He poured his heart into building and restoring them, and car shows became the highlight of his retirement. He cherished the camaraderie of the car community, spending hours swapping stories with fellow enthusiasts and spectators. He leaves behind a tight-knit circle of wonderful friends who will deeply miss his company.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy; his son, Craig; and his parents, Blanche and Gale.
His legacy continues through his daughter, Tonie Fagnan, and her husband, Michael. He was the proud grandfather of Kyle Pearson, Kenny Ray Pearson (Sylvio Ramin), Matthew Vogt Fagnan (Elizabeth), Michael Fagnan Jr., and Clarissa Fagnan Marcotte.
His spark lives on in his great-grandchildren: Yadon Pearson (Adellia Walker), Kyleah Shelton (Jayce), Lillie Pearson, Jackson and Avie Marcotte, and Alaina and Nick Fagnan; and his great-great-grandchildren: Arla Shelton, and Roger and Ollie Pearson. He is also survived by his seven siblings: Betty Jo Lyttle, James Pitchford, Loreen (Per) Pitchford, Terry Pitchford, David Pitchford, Rocky (Jody) Pitchford, and Marie (Mike) Smith, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Robert preferred a casual send-off over a traditional service. The family will hold a joint celebration of life for both Robert and Dorothy in the near future to honor their memory.
