Robert "Bob" Williams, age 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Deep Creek with his family by his side on April 18, 2013. He was born February 3, 1930 in Roosevelt, Utah to Roland and Hilda Williams.
Bob graduated from Uintah High School with the class of 1948 where he served as Senior Class President, played basketball and was Captain of the football team.
After graduation Bob married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Fisher. Together they had 4 children; Robyn, Cindy, Jan, and Audie. Beverly preceded him in death in 1966. He later married Millie Sheffield and they had 1 daughter, Mikki. They later divorced.
Bob served a tour of duty for the US Army and was stationed in Germany. He was very passionate about the freedoms we enjoy in America. Upon returning home, he attended the University of Utah. Bob and Beverly returned to Vernal, and in 1956 Bob went into business for himself which was the beginning of many successful business ventures. He has provided jobs for thousands throughout his life in the Uintah Basin and always felt a great sense of responsibility. He sold his businesses in 2005 and retired to his ranch in Deep Creek where he enjoyed raising horses.
Bob was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served there in many callings. He had a great love for the Lord and knowledge of the scriptures.
Bob loved the Uintah Basin and knew it had been very good to him and his family. He felt the importance of giving back to the community. Because of his inspired generosity, the USU/UBATC Vernal Campus became a reality in 2006, causing a ripple effect as others have also caught his vision and come forward to contribute. Bob was a private person, but was always helping a worthy cause or individual behind the scenes.
He is survived by his children: Robyn (Nick) Richins, Cindy Williams, Mikki (Lynn) Rasmussen all of Vernal, Jan (Rob) Boardman of Bluffdale, Utah and Audie (Kaye) Williams of Silt, Colorado, as well as 18 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Siblings: Marita (Garth) Batty, Larry (JoDean) Williams, Joleen (Dave) Freemyer.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; parents, Roland & Hilda Belcher Williams; brother, Dale Williams; and sister, Donna Collett.
In our eyes, Bob was just an ordinary man doing extraordinary things and a great example of Christ-like charity.
