Rodney Eugene Bateman, age 64 of Altamont, passed away on May 15, 2025 in Roosevelt, Utah. He was born July 20, 1960, in Nebraska to Glenn & Mary (Phelps) Bateman. He moved around following the oilfield. Rod started his own drilling company in Wyoming and later moved to Utah, driving trucks for Basin Wholesale / Winterton trucking for 13 years. He loved Winterton's and how they treated him like family. He wasn't much of a people person and preferred spending time with his animals. He enjoyed spending time with his horses, Whiskey and Sam, in the mountains, and his dogs, Jose, Freckles, and Poncho, who never left his side. Rod moved to Utah to take care of Grandma, but his heart has always remained in Wyoming, especially the Pinedale and Jackson Hole Area. In his later years, he got really good at smoking Salmon for family get-togethers. We will miss this until we meet again. We love and miss you. Rod is survived by nephews: Cheyenne (Shanna) Bateman of Hannah, UT, Brandon Bateman of Altonah; Nieces: Tara Sissy (Dalton) Peatross Duchesne and Sheena (Christian) Wilkerson of Roosevelt; LaEna (Jason) Young of Altonah; and sister-in-law Ann Bateman of Mt. Home. He is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Mary Bateman, Brother, Bob Bateman, and Nephew, Christopher Bateman. Per his wishes, there will be no services. He will return to Pinedale, Wyoming where he will be interred with his parents. Arrangments under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
