Roy William Steen

Roy Wiliam Steen passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on April 4th, 2025 at the age of 80! Roy was born on December 25, 1944 to Solveig Mary and Wilhelm Steen in Bergen, Norway. He moved from Norway to Utah when he was three. He Graduated from East High School and went on to join the Utah Army National Guard. In 1964 he served a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints-in the Oslo Norway Mission. Upon returning Roy married Anne Brit Dahl on July 7, 1967 in the Logan LDS Temple in Logan, Utah. He has three children- Lise, Erik and Coby, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren and two foster daughters Linda and Patricia Spencer. Roy loved his family, his friends, sports, more sports and sports. He loved to travel, and traveled throughout many States to see America. He especially loved to travel to Norway. He loved the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had incredible faith. Roy was a giant among men; he served his Church (in various callings), Community, his Family and often strangers. By the way did we mention he loved sports. He served on the UHP for 21 yrs and 9 years with Daggett County Sheriff's Department. He retired from the Army National Guard with 35 years under his belt. He was also an EMT. By the way did we mention sports-at one time he was on four different basketball teams and another time he was on 4-5 different baseball leagues, he coached little league and helped coach the Manila high baseball team. He loved sports. He is survived by his wife Anne and their three children: Lise (Jeremy) and their children- Isabel, Adriana (Jon) and her children Ayden and Alayna. Eriks wife Sarah and their children Lilly (Jake), Hunter, Hayden, and Maverik, Coby (Jessica) and their children Roy Caden, Carter, and Jaicee. He is also survived by his brother Norm (Shauna) and his sister Norma (Tom) and their families and three brother-in laws Finn David, Inge, Johan and their families. He is preceded in death by his son Erik, his parents Solveig and Wilhelm Steen, his in-laws Paulina and Finn Dahl. A celebration of Life was held in Bluffdale at the VA Memorial Cemetery on April 7, 2025 Funeral services for Roy will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 2:00pm at the Dutch John LDS Ward Chapel, NW Corner BLVD 6th Ave, Dutch John, Utah. Visitation for family and friends will be from 12:30pm ~ 1:30pm at the church. Interment in the Dutch John Cemetery with Military Honors by the Utah Highway Patrol Honor Guard, and the American Legion Post 11. Services under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
