Russie Gardiner

November 8, 1929 — December 29, 2015

Russie Broome Gardiner, 86, passed away December 29, 2015 at Uintah Care Center. She was born in Myton, Utah to Marvin and Doris Hollenbeck Broome on November 8, 1929.

Russie was raised in the Willow Creek Area, where she went to school thru 6th grade, then moving to Vernal where she finished High School. She loved the outdoors, her children and grandchildren. She often bragged about their talents and abilities. She was very musically talented and able to play by ear any string instrument (piano, guitar, mandolin, electric guitar, and fiddle, including the harmonica.) She played with a group in Ogden, having all her instruments by her side, going from one to the next playing the Country Music she loved so much.

She married Udell (Fat) Gardiner in 1949. Russie and Fat made their home in Vernal, Utah where she worked for the Vernal Drug Store, then later for the Vernal Saddle Tree Company. They lived in Willow Creek, Vernal, and Ogden, Utah where she worked for the Defense Depot for 25 years. Udell and Russie divorced during their time in Ogden.

Russie stayed in the Uintah Care Center for the past 12 years. She did not care for the Care Center when she first arrived, but later really loved the people and the care given. She often played the piano for the residence and loved to attend the programs furnished, or the trivia games played. She looked forward, every Sunday, in attending Church Services held by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, never missing a meeting until her health began to fail.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Marvin Broome, Richard Earl Broome, Loyal (Tuney) Broome, Robert Vern Broome, and Grandson Ryan Gardiner.

She was survived by her children Ted and Patty Gardiner, Lee and Pam Gardiner, and Brud and D.J. Gardiner all of Vernal: grandchildren Ann (Darrell) Lewis, Scott (Katie) Gardiner, Blake Gardiner, Cody (Anna) Gardiner, Cory (Adrianna) Gardiner, Kayle Gardiner, Greg (Becky)Gardiner, Trisha Pickup, & Britt Gardiner: 26 great grandchildren, many nephews and nieces, and sister-in-law's.
