Shelly Marie Pace was born on October 19, 1965, in Sevier County, Utah, to Judy Christensen and David Dixon. Throughout her life, Shelly lived in and loved many places, leaving a little piece of herself and a lasting memory everywhere she went.
Shelly was a woman who could do just about anything she put her mind to. While attending and graduating Richfield High School, she became the first woman to take shop-a reflection of the strong-willed, determined woman she would always be. She loved working on cars and was never afraid to get her hands dirty. She even fixed a transmission while pregnant, built her own demolition derby car, and then climbed behind the wheel to drive it herself.
Shelly later married the love of her life, Michael Wyatt Pace. Together, they were approaching their 40th wedding anniversary. Their life together was built with their own hands and filled with hard work, love, adventure, and family. In Torrey, Utah, Shelly and Mike built their home themselves, turning a simple piece of land into a beautiful place filled with trees, grass, and plenty of room for their family to gather and make memories.
Together, Shelly and Mike also started and operated Sand Creek Trucking LLC, running the business themselves. They built a life that reflected who Shelly was independent, hardworking, determined, and never afraid of a challenge.
Music was always a part of Shelly's life. Classic rock and country could often be heard playing wherever she was, and they remained among her absolute favorites. One of her favorite family traditions was traveling to Rock Jam in Grand Junction, Colorado, where the family would camp together, listen to music, watch concerts, and simply enjoy being together.
Shelly found joy in the simple things and had many passions. She loved square-body pickup trucks, searching for beautiful rocks, hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, drawing, poetry, and crafts. She had a creative spirit and a love for adventure that made her uniquely Shelly.
Those who knew her will remember her strong will, her determination, her unforgettable personality, and most of all, her loving heart. Shelly was the kind of person who left an impression. She was someone people could look up to someone whose strength, independence, and love made others hope to become a little more like her.
Shelly will be welcomed home by many loved ones who went before her, including her grandma Christensen, Phil and Kelly Torgerson, Kelvin, Mac Rae, and many others who were waiting to greet her.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Michael Wyatt Pace, age 67; Kelsey Ann Pace; Amanda Simmons; Jakeob Simmons; and her stepchildren, whom she loved and thought of as her own, Jamie Pace, Danielle Elliott, and Ashley Lucero. She also leaves behind many grandchildren, including Chelice Satley, Brooke Satley, Olivia Elliott, Heston Elliott, Wyatt Pace and Aspen, as well as her great-grandchildren and many other family members and loved ones.
There are far too many people whose lives Shelly touched to name them all in one small message. She was loved deeply, and the space she leaves behind cannot be filled. Her stories, her laughter, her strength, her music, her adventures, and all the memories she created with the people she loved will continue to carry her spirit forward.
Graveside service will be held at Torrey, Utah Cemetery at 12noon. A viewing and visitation for family and friends will be held at Wayne County Community Center (605 South 350 East Bicknell, Utah) from 10:30am ~ 11:30am.
A celebration of life will follow at 5:00 p.m. at Capitol Reef Resort Hotel (2600 UT-24, Torrey, UT 84775), where family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, listen to music, and say their final goodbyes.
