Shirley Workman

July 27, 1931 — August 10, 2015

Carlyle Deforrest Workman passed away peacefully in Lapoint, Utah surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 21, 2015. He was born April 26, 1929 to Sherman Dee Workman and Alice Anice Workman in Dragon, Utah. Carlyle was the last child born in Dragon before the old Dragon mine was shut down. His mother and father ran the Watson Hotel and Post Office until it shut down in 1939. They then moved to Vernal, Utah. Carlyle married Shirley Beynon on July 23, 1949. They were married for 55 years and were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had six children: Sherman (Francie) Workman, Charlotte (John) Slaugh, Sherry (Russell) Berry, Shauna Tanner, Valerie (Doug) Schramm and Carlyle (Karylee) Workman. He worked on the Union Pacific Rail Road for over forty years. Carlyle and Shirley served a mission in Houston, Texas. He and his wife began working in the Provo Temple when it opened in 1972. They worked there until Shirley's death in 2004. Carlyle moved to Lapoint, Utah in 2005 next to his daughter Charlotte: where he continued serving in the Vernal Temple.

Carlyle is preceded in death by his wife, both parents and two brothers (Clinton & Kenneth). He is survived by all six children and their spouses, twenty-six grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Lapoint Chapel. He was laid to rest next to his wife at the Vernal Memorial Park.
