Suzanne was born and raised in Provo, Utah and spent her childhood living at 1044 S 500 W. She is the daughter of Arnold Charles Barney and Dawnita Hiatt. She was the oldest of five children: Dennis (Robyn) Barney, Janet Johnson, Nathan Barney (deceased) and Anita Stansfield. Suzanne graduated from Provo High in 1966. She met Edwin Jenkins when she was in the 10th grade and he was a freshman at BYU. It was love at first sight. They dated for four years and were married on April 14, 1967, in the Salt Lake Temple by Elder Spencer W. Kimball. They were together for 62 years and were married for 58 years. Suzanne and Ed have lived in Orem, Utah; Spanish Fork, Utah; Provo, Utah; Seaside, California; Wurzburg, Germany; and Vernal, Utah. After marriage, they were blessed with five children: Jennifer (George) of Orem, Jared (Andrea) of Bluffdale, Melanie (Lance) of Herriman, Jon (Rachel) of Spanish Fork and Tracie (Jeremy) of Spanish Fork. She was a skilled seamstress and shared her talents in many ways, creating basic clothing to elaborate costumes. She made all her daughter’s wedding dresses and a lot of clothes for her children when they were growing up. Suzanne worked for Maverik for 25 years and successfully managed stores in Vernal, Bluffdale, Riverton, East Salt Lake City and Orem. She was known as the Yogurt Queen for dominating the company in yogurt sales for many years. Suzanne was very patriotic. She was a beautiful person full of love and compassion. She loved her family and her neighbors. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a proud member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother and two sons-in-law and survived by her husband, Edwin, all of her children, seventeen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 3, 2025, at the Sunset 9th Ward Chapel, 1560 South 1100 West, Provo, Utah. The family will receive friends at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Sunday, February 2, from 6-7:30 p.m. and at the church Monday, from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will follow in the Provo City Cemetery.
