Timothy "Scarecrow" Gunter Sr.

Timothy (Scarecrow) Wayne Gunter Sr. passed peacefully in his home with loved ones gathered near on January 14, 2026. He was born on October 27, 1956 to Betty and Charles Gunter in Saint Louis Missouri.

Tim had a big personality and a passion for life and made friends anywhere that he went. He was kind, giving, loud and funny and man did he know how to tell a story. He was a rough and tough guy who had a huge heart and went out of his way to help. He loved being outdoors especially fishing and camping but he was also a poet and writer who loved BIG. One of his strongest lifelong passions was art in many different capacities. He loved it all and was a gifted artist from a young age. From tattooing to painting, from drawing to chainsaw wood carving, he was the kind of guy who left his mark on people and places, both figuratively and literally. Of all the things Tim loved and was passionate about, his family was at the top. He came from a huge family and created a huge family of his own. He believed that family was more important than anything. He loved and was loved by so many and will be deeply missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents Betty and Charles Gunter and his sisters Cathy, Linda, and Tina Gunter.

He is survived by his loving wife Paula Bea Gunter and her children Tracy Wright, Doug Buist, and Dennis Buist whom he loved like his one from the very beginning. He is also survived by his children Jeremy Mcdougald, Angela Wilson, Timothy Gunter Jr., December Hatch, Racheal Gunter, Bethany Lloyd, Steven Vandenburg, Jessica Vandenburg and their loving spouses and so many Grandchildren whom he adored. He is also survived by his siblings Michael Gunter, Steven Gunter, Julie Koslow, Diane Gunter, and Mark Gunter and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother, and uncle and a friend to so many whose lives are forever changed by his absence. We are grateful for the out pouring of love and support for our family during this time.

Funeral services for Tim (Scarecrow) will be held Tuesday, January 20 at 11:00am with a visitation for family and friends that morning from 9:45am ~ 10:45am all at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. Interment in the Rockpoint Cemetery.
